MGE XE makes it possible to play Morrowind on modern widescreen monitors without stretching and distorting the graphics, as well as increasing the available resolutions choices.įor the issue of dirty references, you can either find online already cleaned versions of the expansions and official DLC, or install The Elder Scrolls Advanced Mod Editor (shortened to TESAME) to clean them yourself.
Morrowind was designed and hardcoded for the older 4:3 ratio screen resolutions that were the norm back in 2002. As a patch mod for Morrowind, I now regard it as an essential install. It's interesting that nobody has mentioned MGE XE in this thread. Not every Khajiit or Argonian is a slave- so why should they all have the poor condition to match? ) But in some respects it's actually better when modded, such as the (in my opinion) essential revamp of the beastfolk skeletons and textures by LizTail. The bottom line is, you can play it with or without mods- after all, this is a single-player game that can be customised to suit one's tastes. And no, to the best of my knowledge, the game's not compatible with the 360. Guess what? That Xbox eventually broke down, with the main quest still uncompleted. So I had the brilliant idea (not!) of buying a used Xbox and a copy of Morrowind for same. Some years ago I realized I'd never finish the main quest if I was always getting sidetracked by mods.
As to whether or not the game needs mods to be enjoyable- allow me to ramble a little. ) It could be just me, but I'm pretty sure it even allowed Morrowind to use my entire screen instead of the usual inverted letterbox. I downloaded these but they didn't apply to the game at all so I think I missed something here.I'd say my only complaint with the MCP is that it presents a mind-boggling array of options. I would recommend against getting it though simply because it is a buggy outdated mess, imo at least. Note that if you're going to use MGSO, then don't get any of these. Morrowind Script Extender 2.1 (Optimises MGE + Allows for better mods.)Īnd if you want grass then get Vurt's Groundcover. Morrowind Graphics Extender (Change resolution, add distant land, shaders etc.)
Morrowind Code Patch (Fully modular engine fixer. Optimization Patch (Fixes and increases performance by a lot) Patch for Purists (Fixes every bug in the game) Originally posted by Crown:If you're only looking for fixes and a few engine extensions then I would recommend these five mods (and in this order): I think i will stick with what i have for now.
The version of the MPP that comes with MGSO, does that not conflict with the MCP? I am guessing the MPP has been updated since MGSO released so i will look into updating that if i can do so while using MCP. Thanks for the great reply! that is pretty much what i guessed, i was just looking for clarification. You don't need PfP and Optimisation Patch if you are using MGSO.
This is the same for the Optimisation Patch. Patch for Purists needs to be installed before graphics mods. And even then some of the fixes for Patch for Purists are graphical fixes. You would have to completely uninstall MPP if you wanted to install Patch for Purists. Patch for Purists and Morrowind Patch Project both do a lot of the same things. MGSO comes with a version of the patch project. My question is do i need the Optimisation patch or the Patch for Purists? I know the MCP fixes a ton of bugs already.
